Summer Intern – Payments Team

£12.21 per hour | London-based (hybrid)

Training starts mid-June | Full-time

We're looking for friendly and detail oriented summer interns to join our Payments team. You’ll play a key role in supporting our childminders through one of our busiest times of year helping them with all things billing, from invoices and funding to contract updates and rate changes.

About tiney

At tiney, we're here to give children the best start in life - providing an amazing early years education during the most high impact and formative stages of a child's development. To do this, we offer a tech-first platform that empowers micro-entrepreneurs to open their own home nurseries, and a marketplace for families to find accessible, quality childcare around the corner from them. We’re backed by leading investors from Local Globe and Index Ventures.

You can also visit our website here to find out more about us including our recent awards such as:

  • One of only 2 Early Years companies to make the European EdTech 100.

  • Selected by Silicon Valley Comes to UK (SVC2UK) ‘Scale-Up Club’ list of 50 highest-growth startups in the UK.

  • Business Insider’s 24 hottest Edtech startups in Europe.

  • One of the top 100 fastest growing start-ups on the Sifted UK and Ireland list for 2024.

  • We recently made to top 50 of Tempo's best startups to work for in London

What you’ll be doing

You’ll join our Payments team to support the increased volume we see over summer, helping childminders with day-to-day billing and payment queries. You’ll:

  • Handle contract requests and complete manual data entry

  • Answer messages from childminders via Intercom (our customer messaging tool)

  • Support the payments phone line, helping childminders with questions about funding, payments, invoices, contracts, local authority paperwork, and more

  • Complete regular reconciliations and headcounts (data entry tasks)

  • Help us keep everything organised, accurate and running smoothly

What we’re looking for

  • You’re available for two weeks of in-person training in our London office (Monday–Wednesday and Friday) starting mid-June

  • You can work full-time through July and August, including the August bank holiday

  • You can travel into the office around once a week after training

  • You’re comfortable speaking to customers on the phone

  • You’ve got a quiet environment to work from home, and a strong internet connection

  • You’ve got great attention to detail and strong maths skills

  • You understand what good customer service looks like

  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role (even at a café or shop!) is a bonus

We’ll ask for a DBS check if you’re offered the role, and you’ll need to give your consent for us to carry this out.

How to apply

Send us your CV and a short cover letter. In your cover letter, please answer:

  • Why do you want to apply for this role?

  • What skills, attitude or approach will you bring to the team?

  • Tell us a little bit about yourself!

  1. Submit your application (CV + cover letter)

  2. If shortlisted, we’ll ask you to complete a short task

  3. Final stage is an interview with our Head of Customer Operations and Head of Payments
