Senior People Advisor (FTC Maternity Cover)

Providing day-to day guidance and HR advice to our leaders. Supporting an inclusive and engaging people experience whilst anticipating and getting ahead of people related challenges. An excellent opportunity for a skilled HR Advisor to step up to take day-to day responsibility and management of People and HR activity on our UK manufacturing site. You’ll join us on a fixed term contract covering parental leave.

Changing the world of pet food for good
We’re Tails.com, a dog food subscription company with a big difference. We create truly tailored food for each and every dog we serve. We start by asking people a few simple questions about their dog. Then we use that information to create their dog’s unique Tails.com recipe – so their dog gets exactly the nutrition they need, in the taste they love, delivered to their door every month. It’s clever stuff.

We’ve got bold plans. Having created an entirely new category in pet food, we’re now scaling fast in the UK and Europe – backed by Purina, one of the world’s largest pet food companies. You’ll join a bunch of smart people working towards the same goals – and a bunch of smart-ish dogs, all working on their own thing.

The role
You will be responsible for:

  • With the majority of time spent on site at our UK factory based near Heathrow, you’ll offer strong and sound guidance and advice on people related matters and challenges from policy application to wellbeing, to upholding our high standards in all aspects of our UK operation.
  • Supporting a positive team member experience, ensuring Tails.com is a place where people can feel free to bring their full selves to our Pack and live our values.
  • Contributing to the development and review of employment policies and practices.
  • Metrics: Proactive use of metrics to drive effective decision making.
  • Supporting other business functions as required either remotely or based out of Richmond, London. You’ll also have the opportunity to get involved with delivery of employee lifecycle activity and projects, together with development of our overall people offering.

The skills you’ll bring:

  • Strong track record of HR/People advisor level experience, with exposure to manufacturing, warehousing or similar client groups.
  • A readiness to work in a stand-alone site based role (albeit with great head office team support!) with an understanding of the needs of an operational environment
  • A skilled and influential communicator comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders from different teams and levels.
  • Comfort in navigating through sometimes sensitive and complex employee relations matters, processes and change programmes.
  • Sound working knowledge and understanding of employment law and best employment practices ensuring good governance and compliance in all employment aspects.
  • Comfort using a range of HR technology to support, help scale and streamline people operations.

Here’s a taster of how our recruitment process works:#

  1. Once you have applied, your CV will be reviewed by the Hiring Manager.
    If selected, you will then have a call with the Hiring Manager or Talent Acquisition to understand more about your skills and experience (30 mins).
  2. Should you be successful, the next stage will be a video call with the hiring manager (45 mins).
  3. If successful, you will be invited to present a task back to a panel of interviewers (60 mins).
