SO Finance Manager - Innovation
Hello potential future Oatly employee. It’s us, the original oatmilk company that started in Sweden back 25 or so years ago and has since expanded to the U.S. where we’ve continued growing at a rate such that we need more brilliant minds to come work with us to keep the momentum going and the oatmilk flowing.
Sustainability, health, and transparency are the core values that guide everything we do. Basically, we exist to help people live a healthier life without recklessly taxing the planet’s resources in the process, and to change the food system for the better. We drive that change through the power of oats and through a significant reduction in cow’s milk consumption. If any of this resonates with you, then maybe you’d like to work for Oatly, too. Now onto the formal stuff.
The SO Finance Manager - Innovation role is ideal for someone who enjoys building financial frameworks in fast-changing environments, asking the right questions, and helping teams make smarter, data-driven decisions. A successful candidate will bring expertise from an established manufacturing company with exposure to business unit finance. They will have a start-up mentality, bring a strategic viewpoint while still rolling up their sleeves and digging into the details. The role offers significant exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to influence key business decisions across multiple channels.
This position is responsible for aiding in the successful execution of our strategy through sound business planning and reporting. This role creates scenario planning and reporting on product innovation, renovation, and cost-saving project business cases, including volumes, pricing, and margins. You will drive continued partnership and enhanced decision-making across the business, working with commercial, operations, and finance teams. This position will report directly to the VP Supply Chain Finance with significant exposure to senior leadership across teams, collaborating closely with Accounting, Global Supply Chain teams/sourcing, as well as the Commercial teams.
Due to business needs, the qualified candidate must reside in the Eastern Time Zone.
Here are the things we want to hire you to do:
Cultivate strong cross-functional relationships with business partners (PD, Insights, Commercial, Supply Chain, Finance, Sustainability, ODMC)
-
Participate in company planning, forecasting, and reporting processes for Product Development & Innovation projects:
Develop tools and models to drive efficiency in the process (P&L templates)
Strategic review of existing product portfolio and channels
-
Develop and manage complete product P&Ls and (multi-year) business cases, as well as provide financial insights and risks:
Work with operations to calculate and track project savings
Support the decision-making process (Finance Gatekeeper) through scenario-building and critical review of P&L inputs received from various members of the cross-functional project teams
-
Post Innovation Launch Performance Review:
Establish a defined cadence of post-launch review & analysis of action items in collaboration with the cross-functional project team
Build insights about innovation performance and outcomes
Full financial responsibility of the models/P&Ls including commercial/supply chain inputs (top to bottom)
Be able to lead and manage through ambiguity, particularly important as we harmonize policies and practices across the organization
Partner with the Accounting and Global Finance teams to ensure financial reporting accuracy and maintenance
Contribute to the annual business planning, monthly forecasting, budget tracking, month-end close accounting duties, and monitoring and supporting the business via financial analysis
Continuously improve, automate, and scale forecasting and reporting tools, processes, and methodologies with a continuous process improvement mindset
Prepare and provide senior leadership with regular reporting, dashboards, and presentations to make informed, strategic decisions for the business
Here Are The Things We Think You Need:
At least 5 years of experience in a CPG or food company in a Finance or Sales analytical role preferred
Strong understanding of supply chain operations, P&L/balance sheet relationships, and working capital management
Knowledge of key processes, including setting standard costs, cost accounting, analyzing unit economics, and portfolio reviews
Ability to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers and synthesize complex data into meaningful business recommendations.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance/Accounting, or Economics; MBA is a bonus.
Advanced Excel and data modeling skills required, and strong skills in PowerPoint
Excellent interpersonal collaboration skills, ability to think creatively, highly driven, and self-motivated
Disciplined approach toward execution, attention to detail, and ability to navigate within large and complex data environments and draw meaningful conclusions
Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-moving business environment and to manage time, multiple priorities, and handle a high volume of work
An ability to function both independently and in a team environment, and communicate effectively with key stakeholders
Eagerness to join an exciting company and a growing team, and build things from the ground up
And here’s another list of qualities we think make a good Oatly team member:
You feel connected to our mission of encouraging health, sustainability, and transparency
You are a self-starter who doesn’t need direct supervision to motivate you for success – we believe strongly in building a culture of individual accountability and ownership, and need partners that can embrace that mentality
You are ready to make your mark in a smaller, growing brand, leveraging your experience to deliver amazing results and build an outstanding company
You have an entrepreneurial spirit in that you’re comfortable with ambiguity and are energized by the process of building something lasting from the ground up
You enjoy sharing your quirkiness and talents with your coworkers
Another bulleted list felt a bit too…bullet-y. So we wrote this long, awkward sentence to let you know all the ways we sweeten the deal when you work with us, like flexible vacation (take it when you need it), really great benefits (yes, pet insurance is in there), paid volunteer days off throughout the year (doing good is fun), free six packs of...(drumroll)…oatmilk, and you’ll also get genuinely great coworkers who are rooting for each other and the company to thrive. Oh, one more short but very important sentence: We are nimble and agile (not chaotic) in how we work, and we’re grounded in a long company history dating way back to the last century.
