Woof! Welcome to Marleybones
Marleybones makes fresh dog food easy. We take the hassle out of frozen food by serving up gently cooked, nutritious meals made from real, high-quality ingredients. No freezer, no defrosting, no faff.
Our story started with one dog: Marley. Our co-founder Josephine couldn't find a food that was both genuinely fresh and genuinely easy. So she and fellow co-founder Mikala built one.
Today we're stocked in Waitrose, Ocado and Pets at Home, and 98% of our customers tell us they're happy they switched.
We already have a brand people love. Now we want to make it bigger and better: a brand people talk about, share and go looking for. One that creates real buzz, makes every pound we spend on ads work harder, and brings more customers to us on their own.
This role is how we get there.
The role
You'll live and breathe Marleybones, and help make it a household name. You'll build on what already works, come up with the ideas others don't, and create the kind of buzz people can't stop talking about. You're outgoing, happy in front of the camera (and happy directing), and you know what moves people to buy.
You'll own our 360 marketing plan and every campaign moment in it. You'll come up with the ideas, get in front of the camera, find and close the partnerships that bring us to new audiences, and set the tone for how Marleybones looks and sounds everywhere. You'll build it all with Josephine, our Co-Founder, and lead two creative people doing great work.
What you'll be doing (in rough order of where your week goes)
- Own the 360 marketing plan: campaign moments, the seasonal calendar, guerrilla ideas and reactive moments, and how each one runs across email, social, partnerships, retail and PR
- Create and star in brand content: behind the scenes, brand storytelling and partnership activations
- Own brand partnerships end to end: you find the targets, pitch them, close them and make them happen
- Lead idea generation: fast, and ready to run with a good idea before it gets watered down
- Own our tone of voice and brand standards, and the brand playbook that keeps the team consistent
- Lead our Marketing Executive and Organic Social Executive: setting direction, briefing work and helping them grow
- Manage our creative partners, including our branding and photography studio
- Tell the story of every new product launch
Are you our next top dog? (What you'll bring)
Must haves:
- 3-5 years in marketing or brand at a DTC or challenger consumer brand. Agency is fine if you've made real things
- A track record of actually making things and putting them into the world. Show us something real
- Outgoing and confident on camera: happy to step in front of it, and to bring the team, founders and dogs in front of it with you
- Commercial confidence: you can find a partnership target, pitch them cold, and close it
- You know what moves people to buy, and how to turn a brand moment into sales
- Sharp creative instinct: you generate ideas, you don't just execute briefs
- Strong writing, with a natural feel for tone of voice
- Opinionated but not precious: you push hard for good ideas and take the founder's final call in good faith
- Resourceful: you create the desired effect without a Hollywood budget
Nice to haves:
- Videos you've made that got a brand noticed, especially ones you appear in: a real bonus if you can share them
- Food, drink, pets or wellness
- You've built a brand's public personality: content, activations, partnerships
- You've managed a small team
- PR instinct: you know how to create stories worth covering
- A dog of your own (a plus, not a requirement)
Life at Marleybones 🦴
- A dog-friendly office, so bring yours in
- A small team where your ideas actually get made
- A brand people love, with a product we're proud of every day
- Real creative freedom: we move fast and back good ideas
- A front-row seat to taking a brand people already love to the next level
