Community:
From day one, community has been at the heart of everything we do, setting ourselves a mission to create the largest engaged decorating community that feels inspired and supported.
Since launching in 2020, we’ve united over 1 million decorators and collaborated with over 3,000 creators to transform their homes and have actively featured the Lick community in everything from press, to brand awareness campaigns and brand partnerships.
About the Company
Lick was founded in 2019 by Lucas London and Sam Bradley - both experienced startup entrepreneurs - targeting the $1 trillion global home decor market.
We’re the fastest growing decorator brand and since launching in 2020 we have expanded from one DIY brand into:
- Lick: for the DIY customer
- LickPro: for the Trade customer
- Lick Tools: our own range of sustainable tools
We continually develop our product range, launch new sustainability initiatives and grow our community of decorators. Successful campaigns such as the Heinz x Lick collaboration & Soho Home range, as well as our huge partnerships with Screwfix & diy.com are leading us in the right direction, and it’s really a very exciting time to be joining us on this journey!
Hybrid Working
Our office is located in Clapham and we are a hybrid working team who believes in the value of getting together offline and online. For this reason, we are focused on hiring candidates who can easily work in London. We see huge value in our team sharing an office together and strongly encourage everyone to use it as often as they can, and the minimum expectation is three days per week - two days will be set based on your department, and the other day is at your and your managers discretion.
Our team is collaborative - and friendly! We want to encourage relationship building and effective teamwork through both face to face and online interactions.
Wellbeing
We are a team of incredible human beings, making Lick a very special place to work. We want to promote an environment where we can all truly be ourselves (on the good days and the bad) and make an authentic impact. Growing and thriving as individuals and achieving something very significant together.
We want it to be easy to openly discuss how you are feeling. We want it to be easy for you to do the things you know will help you thrive. We want you to own your mental health and wellbeing, and we want to ensure you feel supported in doing so - and we aim to provide you with the information and tools to empower you to do so.
Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging
People are at the centre of everything we do at Lick. We work hard to make sure that we're amplifying diverse voices externally within our amazing community of decorators. Equally, we are on a mission to make Lick a company where every member of our team feels they can truly be themselves and genuinely make an impact. We will continue to work on ways to be able to formally follow through on this commitment, such as our team led Lick Belonging Group, and using an individual approach for each team member.
Our Culture
Having launched in the last few years, our culture will continue to evolve just like everything else we do. To give you a sense of what to expect, we can confirm it's fast and very ambitious, with high expectations. We believe a great team can do great things and we work hard to ensure you have what you need to thrive and make a real impact. We put a huge emphasis on information sharing, communications and relationships, and we use data and customer insights to improve what we do and how we do it.
We have ambitious business goals, but we don’t just do things a certain way because that’s how it’s always been done. We’re here to transform an entire category, this means developing new and better ways of doing things.
We want to set you up for success, both from a performance and development perspective; we offer structured review processes, eNPS surveys, flexible and hybrid working policies, regular company-wide meetings, alongside a range of other internal initiatives. We are passionate about supporting our team learn and grow their careers.
About The Role
Lick is transforming the home improvement space. Having redefined the D2C experience, we’re now looking for a strategic Business Development Executive to build our B2B function from the ground up. This isn't just about selling paint; it's about building partnerships with the UK’s leading architects, interior designers, and developers to bring Lick’s signature colour and product quality to large-scale projects.
This role will be hybrid - working from LickStudio, our first and only retail store supplying DIY and trade paint, our head office, and may require travel from time to time. You’ll work alongside the LickStudio team, who look after walk-in customers, host colour consultations and support adhoc team requests. The Business Development Executive role will focus on trade as a channel, boosting in-store revenue, and already with the tools and team in place to support the operations.
Responsibilities
What you will be doing:
In this role, you’ll be both the system builder and the driver; you will be responsible for developing the strategy with the senior leadership team and delivering the strategy on the ground to drive growth.
Over the course of the first 12 months you will be responsible for building out the systems, setting up processes and owning Business Development. This will enable you to create a system optimised to fit the industry.
- Infrastructure: Design the B2B sales process, from lead generation and CRM workflows to sample fulfilment and volume pricing structures, in collaboration with the Commercial Director and E-Commerce Manager.
- Outreach Engine: Build and execute multi-channel lead generation campaigns, alongside the Digital Marketing Lead. You’ll be expected to manage automated email sequences alongside picking up the phone every day to open doors, meet clients and build rapport with key decision-makers.
- LickStudio Collaboration: Work closely with our LickStudio team to ensure a seamless hand-off for incoming orders, technical specifications, and project delivery. This will include supporting the payment and invoice management process.
- Work cross-functionally: Work with the Brand team to build on our B2B "Trade" offering—the Lick Design Programme—ensuring it feels considered, premium, and relevant to the needs of our target audience.
- Work with the tech team to ensure there is a location online for customers to visit and sign up for the program. Work collaboratively with the marketing team to promote the programme.
- Business Development: Personally hunt and close high-value accounts. Once on board, you will lead the nurture strategy, ensuring our current clients remain loyal advocates who choose Lick for every project.
- Forecasting & Data Analysis: Provide clear revenue projections and build and track KPI’s across channels, lead generation and conversion.
Experience
- Experience within Business Development.
- Experience in HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar CRM architectures for both sales and marketing automation.
- Experience acquiring leads and converting those customers through multiple channels such as LinkedIn and Meta.
- Excellent negotiation skills with experience in complex, multi-stakeholder contracts.
- A genuine passion for colour, design, and disrupting "boring" legacy industries.
- Proven experience acquiring customers through daily phone calls and meetings.
Qualities
- Self starter: You are as comfortable building a complex email automation workflow as you are picking up the phone to cold-call a developer. You understand that B2B is built on persistence and personality.
- Industry Savvy: You have 2+ years of experience in B2B sales, ideally within interiors, design, or PropTech. You likely already have a "little black book" of industry contacts* (*nice to have).
- Collaborative: You know how to work with internal teams (like LickStudio) to ensure the client’s journey—from first call to final delivery—is flawless.
- Data-Informed: You use CRM data to optimise the funnel, track your call-to-close ratios, and refine your email copy for better engagement.
- The salary range for this role is £32,000-£45,000, dependent on level and experience, plus share options
- A generous Annual Leave allowance: 26 days per year, a day off for your birthday and extra time off at the end of the year
- Flexible Working - own your working hours
- Hybrid Working - we encourage the team to use the office twice per week
- £300 allowance for Lick products
- Private pension scheme with NEST
- Generous Primary and Secondary Caregiver Leave allowances; 26 weeks full pay for Primary Caregivers plus up to 10 fully paid KIT days and a phased return to work (full pay for 3 working days per week for your first 4 weeks back), and 4 weeks full pay for Secondary Caregivers
- Living Wage Foundation accredited employer - we pay at least the London Living Wage to all team members regardless of living and working location
- Monthly Deep Dive sessions from your fellow teammates; these sessions aim to get the wider company up to speed on a particular project or topic
- The Lick Impact Award, a monthly team-led initiative, recognises individuals for their hard work and amazing attitudes
- Lots of amazing opportunities to get to know other members of the team at different team events and to have an impact on our culture through our Lick Belonging Group and beyond
- Contribute to building a culture where well being is part of how we do things & not just a bonus, and first-hand experience of being part of, and growing with, a fast-moving and ambitious company
- You are hopefully reading this and thinking I can't wait to be part of the team that makes this even better as the company grows ;)
