The Role:

The way we think about data at Flash Pack has changed. Our leadership team used to come to the Data team for a dashboard, now they ask an AI agent for the numbers directly. That means the models and definitions underneath now decide whether an answer comes to them right or wrong!

That's why we're hiring for this role - we're looking for someone to make sure the data is accurate and can be trusted before the business uses it. You'll own our warehouse, our dbt project and semantic layer, and our Lightdash dashboards, all built as code rather than clicked together in a UI. You'll decide what "right" means for a number before it reaches the business, including the numbers behind our WIGs (Wildly Important Goals) and KPIs.

You'll be one of two people in data, reporting to our Data Lead and working closely with our CFO.

This is a remote-flexible role, hired in the UK, with the team together in person in London every 6-8 weeks.

In line with our salary framework, the salary for this role is £85,000 - £95,000 depending on experience.

Where you will spend your time:

  • Setting the direction of the platform with the Data Lead: what we build next, and why

  • Owning our dbt project, the warehouse and the semantic layer that powers Lightdash and our AI tools: one consistent set of models the whole business reads from, with access scoped so people and agents see only what they should

  • Keeping the answers our AI tools give the business accurate - this will involve curating the definitions, documentation and checks they rely on as data and models change

  • Owning our Lightdash project as code: the semantic layer, the dashboards that matter centrally, and the guardrails other teams build within

  • Owning upgrades to our data platform, including the move to dbt's new engine, so the stack stays fast, current and cost-efficient

  • Partnering with Finance, Marketing, Product, CX, and Operations to understand challenges and deliver tailored insights and reporting

  • Looking for ways AI can make our analytics work faster and smarter, from how we build data to how the business explores it

  • Growing our data culture by helping teams improve data fluency and confidence

  • Utilising our data stack (Estuary, dbt, BigQuery, Lightdash, Hightouch) to ensure smooth operations and scalability

What we'd love to see from you:

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with dbt and BigQuery (or similar)

  • Experience improving an existing dbt project, including restructuring models, adding tests and CI, and keeping build times and warehouse costs under control

  • Strong SQL skills, including window functions, CTEs, and aggregate functions

  • Strong experience with BI tools such as Lightdash, Looker, or Metabase

  • Genuine enthusiasm for AI and how it's changing the way analytics teams work - you already use tools like Claude, Cursor or similar as part of how you work

  • Passion for storytelling, turning data into insight and action

  • Experience collaborating across departments to solve problems with data and improving data fluency

  • An engaging communication style that makes complex insights accessible

  • Curiosity, proactivity, and the drive to ask the right questions

  • Experience in a fast-growth startup environment and a lean Data team

It would be a bonus if you have:

  • Python skills for data manipulation or automation

  • Experience using LLMs/AI models inside a data warehouse (e.g. BigQuery ML / Gemini, Snowflake Cortex or similar)

  • Experience modelling CRM and lifecycle data (e.g. Klaviyo, HubSpot) or working with reverse-ETL tools (e.g. Hightouch, Census)

  • Web analytics experience with tools like Google Analytics

  • Experience with the Lightdash CLI or other BI-as-code workflows

We’re after the right person and if you don’t quite hit all the criteria, we’d still encourage you to apply. We’d love to chat and see if you could be a great fit for Flash Pack.

Logistics 🛠️:

Our interviews take place on Google Meet and usually consist of the following stages:

  • Introductory chat with our talent team to see if there is a match (20 mins)

  • Technical interview with the hiring manager (30 mins)

  • Case study and presentation with key stakeholders (60 mins)

  • A culture and ways of working interview with our founder to see if your ways of working are a match with ours (30-45 mins)

Some roles may have extra stages, but we will let you know as soon as possible in the process if this is the case.

Diversity and Inclusion

We’re led by a BAME, female CEO and building a diverse and inclusive team is incredibly important to us which is why we are building diversity and inclusion into the company hiring, performance and progression framework.

We see our diversity as a key competitive advantage which is why we are committed to hiring top talent regardless of race, religion, colour, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age or status as an individual with a disability.

If you have an additional accessibility or other requirement we haven’t considered, we will do our best to adapt and make sure your needs are met.

If you would like to talk to us about these efforts, or have suggestions for how we can do better, we would love to hear from you.

Once you apply, you will be sent a short Equality, Diversity & Inclusion survey, it would help us immensely if you can complete it.
