About the team

The Advertising team is responsible for building a system that scales with quality, protects the consumer experience, and delivers on its goals. This team is focused on improving the way customers shop and eat by connecting them with restaurants, shops, and riders and providing a more convenient and enjoyable experience.

About the role

The Director of Commercial Operations, Advertising, will serve as the senior operator to the Vice President of Advertising. You'll be accountable for the operating model, revenue quality, and advertiser outcomes across all markets. You will lead teams that manage media operations, quality assurance, and optimization to maximize yield and advertiser performance.

What you'll be doing

  • Designing and maintaining a scalable end-to-end operating model for both central and market-based advertising teams.

  • Setting global operating policies for eligibility, allocation, and third-party integrations, and chairing the yield council and advertising operations board.

  • Leading teams responsible for media operations, quality assurance, and optimization, while also setting technical standards and creative specifications.

  • Owning the revenue management framework and being accountable for outcomes across different surfaces and markets.

  • Overseeing the teams that forecast supply and enforce pricing floors, caps, and sponsorship structures.

  • Managing a deal desk with clear thresholds and escalation paths, and executing pricing and discount rules.

  • Acting as a key escalation point for delivery risks and client issues to improve interdepartmental communication and handoffs.

  • Championing automation and the use of artificial intelligence to improve quality and remove manual work.

Requirements

  • Senior operations leadership experience in advertising, media technology, retail media, or at a large agency or publisher during a period of significant change.

  • Proven record of building global operating models, service catalogs, and tooling that can scale with rigor and speed.

  • Strong understanding of systems and process design, including ad servers, media booking, and audience management.

  • Deep knowledge of yield management, targeting, and optimization in both performance and brand contexts.

  • Demonstrated experience chairing cross-functional forums, establishing clear rules, and resolving conflicts with data and fair process.

  • Experience in owning revenue controls and preparing for audits in an advertising or retail media setting.

  • Collaborative and influential, with the ability to build support across product, engineering, and markets while proactively mitigating risk.

  • Strategic thinker who can translate market dynamics into operational changes and plan over a multi-year horizon.
